บัวหิมะ แบ่งได้ 4 ประเภท คือ 1)บัวหิมะ(Snow lotus)ที่เป็นพืชล้มลุก เจริญเติบโตได้ดีบนภูเขาสูงที่มีอากาศหนาวเย็นมาก พบในทวีปเอเชีย ยุโรปและอเมริกาเหนือ ลักษณะดอกคล้ายกำหล่ำปลีมีสีขาวหรือเขียวอ่อน ตรงกลางดอกมีสีม่วงอ่อน ได้ชื่อว่าเป็นราชินีแห่งยาสมุนไพร ใช้รักษาสารพัดโรค 2)บัวหิมะที่เป็นพืชหัว มีชื่อภาษาอังกฤษว่ายาคอน(Yakon)มีสรรพคุณในการควบคุมปรับปรุงของเหลวในเลือด ป้องกันและบรรเทาอาการโรคความดันโลหิตสูงและกินเพื่อลดน้ำหนัก เพราะมีแคลอรี่ต่ำ มีการนำไปประกอบอาหารและแปรรูป 3)บัวหิมะ เป่า ฟู หลิง(Bao Fu Ling)เป็นผลิตภัณฑ์จากประเทศสาธารณรัฐประชาชนจีน เป็นครีมสีขาว ใช้เป็นยาและเครื่องสำอาง ใช้ทารักษาแผลไฟไหม้ น้ำร้อนลวก หรือทาบำรุงผิว 4) บัวหิมะทิเบตหรือคีเฟอร์(Ker)เป็นจุลินทรีย์2 ชนิด คือ ยีสต์ Saccharomyees exiguus หรือ S.ker กับแบคทีเรียแลกติก(Lactic acid bacteria) ซึ่งยึดเกาะกันมีลักษณะเหมือนเห็ดหูหนูขาวแต่เล็กมาก สามารถเพาะเลี้ยงเองโดยใช้นมวัว นมแพะ นมแกะ หรือ นมอูฐ คีเฟอร์จะเปลี่ยนนมสดให้เป็นโยเกิร์ตเพื่อรับประทาน นอกจากนี้ยังนำมาผสมในผลิตภัณฑ์เสริมความงาม เช่น ครีมพอกหน้า ทำให้ขาวขึ้น ลบจุดด่างดำและรักษาสิว บัวหิมะทั้ง4ประเภทที่กล่าวมามีความแตกต่างกัน สามารถเลือกใช้ตามวัตถุประสงค์การใช้งาน ไม่ว่าจะเป็นอาหาร ยา หรือเครื่องสำอางซึ่งล้วนเป็นประโยชน์ต่อร่างกายและสุขภาพ.

Snow lotus can divide into 4 types are 1) Snow lotus as biennial plant, grows well on high mountain in very cold weather, found in Asia, Europe and North America continent with characteristic like white or light green cabbage, light purple in the center claim name as Queen of herbs that can use in treatment of various diseases 2) Snow lotus in tuber type can call Yakon with control and improve liquids in blood, protect and relieve high blood pressure and consume to lose weight because it low in calories, use to cook foods and food processing 3) Bao Fu Ling Snow lotus is product from Republic of China with white creamy can use as medicine and cosmetic, treatment of burns, scald or skin nourishing 4) Tibetan snow lotus or Ker are Saccharomyees exiguous yeast or S.ker and Lactic acid bacteria with stick together like Jew's Ear mushroom but very small can grow by cow's milk, goat's milk, sheep's milk or camel's milk. Ker can transform fresh milk into yogurt. Snow lotus can mix in beauty products such as face mask to for white skin, reduce dark spots and acne cure. All above snow lotus are different that can use as food, medicine or cosmetic which health benefits and wellness.
