น้ำผึ้ง และน้ำเชื่อมที่มีความเข้มข้นร้อยละ 80-85 มีฤทธิ์ฆ่าเชื้อ ช่วยสมานแผลให้หายเร็ว เหมาะสำหรับใช้รักษาแผลติดเชื้อเรื้อรัง เช่น แผลเบาหวาน แผลกดทับ นอกจากนี้ยังใช้ป้องกัน การติดเชื้อของแผลสดที่ปนเปื้อนสกปรก เช่น แผลสุนัขกัด แผลที่ปนเปื้อนโคลนหรือดินทราย โดยทำความสะอาดแผลแล้วใช้น้ำผึ้งหรือน้ำเชื่อมเข้มข้นทาหรือใส่ในเนื้อแผลให้ทั่วก่อนปิดแผลซึ่งหากแผลมีสีแดงให้ใช้ต่อจนกว่าจะหาย หากขอบแผลมีสีดำ คล้ำให้เลิกใช้น้ำผึ้งหรือน้ำเชื่อมในการรักษาทันที.
